We have no sympathy for you Christians. 1800 years ago we had odometers, the exact size of the Earth, mechanical machines built from gears, springs, and and cogs. First they took those things as evil (Evolution is the tool of the Devil sound familiar?)... It took 6 centuries to ban even the BIBLE, any reading at all, throughout Europe. Then came Guilty until Proven Flammable as they passed the time till the Rapture

please do not stereotype all christians particularly those who have been dead for two hundred years with the ones trying to do some good in the world, and, it might interest you to know, this christian has a particular inerest in the furthuring of science.

All Christians believe in the same non-existent being, this is what we base our "stereotypes" on. I should hope these people would still do good things even after they realise god is imaginary.

do you claim to be smarter than everyone who has ever believed in god? Have you ever considered that it is possible that these people have had a super-natural experience and really "know", its never good to be sure after all it was not to terribly long ago, however that scientists "knew" that an atom was the smallest substance in existence lol for more on what we really "know" search "double slit experiment" and tell me what you think of the ending.

I don't claim to be "smarter" than anybody. Quite the contrary. The point is, people who believe in god suffer a social delusion reinforced over thousands of years. "Spiritual" experiences are just strange neurological events. If I said I LITERALLY SAW a dead body get up and walk away, (rational) people would say I was crazy. And yet people who say they talk to god are worshipped as prophets. It's a social thing. All religion is social mechanics.

Don't try to call me on that bullshit about science not knowing things. That's the whole point of science; filling in our gaps of knowledge. I happily claim ignorance on how the fuck quantum mechanics works, because I am confident we will know in the future. Invoking "god" to explain away all our ignorance is...offensive. If you truly valued science, you would not believe in a god.

what i meant was that science cannot explain this. in turn science cannot explain god im not saying god caused the double slit experiment to behave this way simply that noone can disprove god through a science which still knows very little about our world. super-natural events by their very name are unexplainable by natural law. as far as truly valuing science i see no reason why belief in the super-natural hampers that i believe in natural law the same as you, but i also believe in more

I know what you meant, and as I said, the beauty of science is that it CAN explain (just about) everything, and that it HASN'T yet. The operative word of course being "yet". And, as I also said, invoking the supernatural to explain things we don't yet understand is not only pointless, it's positively damaging to the open discourse encouraged by scientific learning. cont...

"noone can disprove god through a science which still knows very little about our world." Ever heard of Russel's teapot? This is going nowhere. I suggest you read "The End of Faith" by Sam Harris.

what is missing from his opinion that christians should want to be dead is sympathy. christians have the task of saving the soul of those not yet saved. the source of christianity, or the point of it is not to get to heaven ,although it is a plus, but a triumph of good over evil or rather love of fellow man in his own words "bless those who persecute you"

thanks for posting. maybe some genuine thinking will start for others like it has for me since my exposure to this man. his passion and creeativity of thought dwarfs any lecture i ever heard in church or theology school. associations create "asses" and assocaitions with god close the mind and begin the darkest of judgements and behaviors from the confused assumptive human mind.
